The planning process

Cottam Power Station was a major employer and a visible part of the local landscape for more than 50 years. We recognise the site’s ongoing importance to the community and are committed to engaging openly with local residents, businesses, elected representatives and stakeholders as our proposals develop.

How will the planning application be decided?

Cottam Energy & Innovation Park requires planning permission from Bassetlaw District Council.

Before submitting an application, EDF is carrying out consultation with local communities, businesses, elected representatives and stakeholders. The consultation will run from 9 November - 6 December 2026. We intend to submit a planning application to Bassetlaw District Council in the early part of 2027.

Feedback received through this consultation, alongside ongoing assessment work, will help inform the development of the proposals wherever possible.
